Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid: 12 miles on a 3 HR charge?

Toyota plans to release it's plug-in hybrid concept Prius early next year.  Toyota intends to introduce approximately 500 plug-in hybrid vehicles on a lease program with 200 in Japan, 150 in the U.S. and 150 in Europe.  This Prius can be charged in 3 hr minutes at a household outlet and can go 20 km (12.5 miles) without using gasoline.

    Is that really possible? I wonder how this car was built to be able to do that. What parts were installed on this one?
