MotorWeek, television’s longest running automotive series, announced today the Toyota Prius has won the top honor of “Best of the Year” in its 2010 Drivers’ Choice Awards “for making improvements on virtually every front including, fuel efficiency, power and versatility.”

Today Toyota announced it will recall approximately 133,000 2010 Model Year Prius vehicles and 14,500 Lexus Division 2010 HS 250h vehicles.

Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc, today announced it will conduct a voluntary safety recall on approximately 133,000 2010 Model Year Prius vehicles and 14,500 Lexus Division 2010 HS 250h vehicles.

Toyota admitted design problems with the brakes in its prized Prius, adding to the catalog of woes for the world's No. 1 automaker still reeling from a massive U.S. recall involving faulty gas pedals.

Toyota is aware that NHTSA has opened a Preliminary Evaluation centered on owner complaints of a braking issue with the 2010 model year Prius. Toyota will cooperate fully with NHTSA’s investigation.

The 2010 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid vehicle (PHV) made its North American debut last week at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Toyota plans to release it's plug-in hybrid concept Prius early next year.  Toyota intends to introduce approximately 500 plug-in hybrid vehicles on a lease program with 200 in Japan, 150 in the U.S. and 150 in Europe.  This Prius can be charged in 3 hr minutes at a household outlet and can go 20 km (12.5 miles) without using gasoline.
